	The Throat Chakra is the 5th chakra in the 7 major chakra system. The chakric form is depicted with 16 petals, and its' colour frequency is Blue. Focusing on this mandala will balance the frequency of the Throat chakra, opening up clear communication, and clarity of creative intent.
The Sanskrit term for the Throat chakra, Visshudha, means to purify. Clarity of speech and communication in general is the governing aspect of this chakra, but it also relates to the etheric body, activated through the central nervous system. It is closely associated with the 3rd Eye chakra, receiving the insights of the intuition and the higher mental faculties which the 3rd Eye opens us up to.

When the Throat and 3rd Eye chakras are balanced and work in unison with one another, a high degree of creative intelligence is activated, and the need to express one's inner truth comes to the fore. Of course, all the chakras work together in a balanced system when they are functioning properly, but because of the Throat chakra's ability to open up creative intelligence and communication, it also has a strong connection with the Sacral chakra, the energy centre that the kundalini, the creative force, and sexual energy, usually coils around.

Therefore , when this chakra is out of balance, we can see problems with sexual expression and communication of the self in general. An overactive Throat chakra can causes innapropriate speech and excessive talking, and an arrogant, over-indulgent use of sexual energy.

An underactive Throat chakra can make the person fearful of communcating or unable to stick to the truth of the matter. Fear can also inhibit the expression of sexual energy as well.
