The Crown Chakra is the 7th chakra in the 7 major chakra system. The chakric form is depicted with a thousand or an infinite number of petals, and its' colour frequency is Violet, with overtones of Magenta and White. Focusing on this mandala will balance the frequency of the Crown chakra, opening up a conscious connection to awareness of the divine self.

The Sanskrit term for the Crown chakra, Sahasrara, means "thousandfold", and the Crown chakra is known as the thousand-petalled lotus. It is connected to and activates the Pineal gland, directly affecting the brain and central nervous system.

This is the energy centre that connects us to the divine source of our consciousness, the All-That-Is. When this chakra is fully opened and balanced, divine wisdom and knowing flows into the 3rd Eye chakra, enabling us to align our thoughts with the Creator, and to integrate and become aware of the unconscious and subconscious mind.

If the Crown chakra is overactive, or blasted open without preparation, we can become ungrounded and even psychotic. The Crown chakra needs to be aligned with the Root chakra at the base of the spine so that divine energy can be grounded and manifested within the physical form.

An underactive Crown chakra will make us feel as though we are lacking a fundamental connection, and a natural joy of life will feel elusive.
