An open and balanced 3rd Eye opens our consciousness so that we can see beyond the illusions of the material world, and perceive the true reality, that we are aspects of the creator creating.

The two petals symbolise the polar aspects of the mind, the Left and Right brain, and the polarity of yin and yang, male and female energies within the human form that need to be brought into balance if we are to function as whole human beings. Although the chakra opposite may appear to have 4 petals, what is depicted is the mirroring aspect of the mind; as well as the Left and Right brain, for instance, we have the Front and Back brain. At the centre is the form of the eye which is formed from the intersection of two circles passing through each others' centre, in other words, the Vesica Piscis. Once this balance is achieved and the mind has been brought into synthesis, the Crown chakra is fully activated and accessed, connecting us to the deeper, cosmic awareness of who we really are, and what we are doing here. An open and balanced 3rd Eye chakra makes us aware of the Causal body, also known as the Higher Mental Body or Abstract Mind, or Manas, the lower level of the Atma-Buddhi-Manas triad. This part of ourselves is immortal and remains with us from lifetime to lifetime. |

An overactive 3rd Eye can cause mental hysteria and manic behaviour, whereas an underactive 3rd Eye can make us narrow-minded, over-sensitive to other people's perceptions of us, and undisciplined. |
